What 1,372 Days of Meditation Taught Me About Mindfulness

5 copywriting secrets to 10x your writing

Table of Contents

1 Meditation

Today's meditation is about the gap between who you are now and who you want to become.

It's about identity and how it reflects your position in life.

If your identity’s fixed, your life’s fixed.

And if your life’s fixed, it’s not improving.

That sucks.

Instead, your identity must be flexible.

I saw this term Identity Flexibility in a post on Threads the other day and had to reference it here.

It basically says:

If you're unhappy with your current situation, you need to change your identity because it's tied to where you are now.

Beliefs → actions → habits → identity → life.

So your identity is a reflection of what you do every day.

For example, you're living pay check to pay check and trying to save up to buy a house.

To do so, you’re working a secure job and running a creative business on the side.

The aim’s to make $10,000 a month from that business.

But if you’re not making $10,000/month right now, your actions must change.

Ask yourself:

What does someone making $10,000 a month do?

First, start with the maths.

3 potential options:

  1. 1 customer paying $10k/month

  2. 10 customers paying $1k/month

  3. 100 customers paying $100/month

Let’s say you choose option 2.

Think about what actions that person would take.

(They’d probably do a lot of sales calls and send a lot of DMs to leads)

If you're not doing these actions now, start!!

And don’t stop until you get those 10 customers.

Soon enough these actions will become part of your new identity.

The identity of someone who makes $10K/month.

I get it though…

You might be scared of sales calls or asking for $1,000/month from someone.

And that’s okay. Everyone is at the start.

But understand this fear is simply the product of limiting beliefs about money and value.

And those limiting beliefs keep you from reaching your goal.

Remember:

Beliefs → actions → habits → identity → life.

Change the limiting beliefs to change your actions, habits, identity and life.

This will be extremely uncomfortable.

But no one said it would be easy 😜

Overhaul your mindset to overhaul your life.

In the meantime, enjoy the rest of this Lesson 🫶

What 1,372 Days of Meditation Taught Me About Mindfulness

I've meditated for 19,330 minutes over 1,372 days.

Every day I've written 1 lesson about mindfulness.

Here are my top 10:

Lesson 1: Your Mind Is a Puppy Dog

  • You don’t expect an untrained puppy to behave.

  • You train it every single day and then hope it will.

  • The same is true of your mind.

Lesson 2: Keep Death By Your Side

  • You will die one day.

  • Every moment is unique.

  • Those 2 things alone = everything you need to live a good life.

Lesson 3: You Are Not Your Thoughts

  • “I’m not good enough” is just a thought.

  • You are not that thought.

  • Learn to recognise the difference and you will become powerful.

Lesson 4: The Process is the Purpose

  • Everything you do is not a means to an end.

  • It’s an end in and of itself.

  • The journey is the reward.

Lesson 5: Be a Life Detective

  • You’re the detective of your own life.

  • “Solving the case” requires you to be curious about every aspect of it.

  • This is how you maintain child-like wonder and awe.

Lesson 6: Stress is a Gap

  • It’s a gap between what’s happening & what you want to happen.

  • “I’m not making money atm” & “I need to make money” = stress

  • If you don’t change what’s happening, stress uses you.

  • If you do change what’s happening, you use stress.

Lesson 7: Accept the Mind in its Totality

  • Your mind should not be one way or the other.

  • It needs bad days to have good days.

  • When you accept this, every day is a good day.

Lesson 8: Meditation is a Mirror For Your Feelings

  • Meditation forces you to look at your feelings.

  • When you stare at them for a while, they become neutral.

  • It’s like looking at the same point on your body for one hour — it’s neither good nor bad, it just is.

  • Look at your feelings the same way. They just are.

Lesson 9: You Don’t Need To Be Accepted To Be Loved

  • Self-validation = accepting your own feelings.

  • When you don’t accept your feelings, you crave acceptance from others.

  • When you do, you crave nothing.

  • You love everyone and everything.

Lesson 10: Distractions = Opportunities to Stabilize the Mind

  • Every distraction = a chance to notice being distracted

  • The moment you notice the distraction = the moment you stabilize your mind.

  • This is presence… a gateway drug to the best flow states you’ll ever have.

7 Learnings

Sell Like Crazy with this Pricing Framework (100824)

Establish a high initial price that makes subsequent prices seem less costly.

  • E.g. Pay $1,000 for a course. Add the eBook for just $17.

The high anchor makes the low price insignificant.

What Sales Copywriting Really Is (110824)

→ Persuading the right person to take a specific action.

That’s it.

3 steps to achieve the goal:

  1. Understand audience

    • Think of it like talking to a friend. You wouldn't tell a friend something in a way they wouldn't understand or care about.

  2. Highlight a clear and specific goal.

    • Your goal’s to get the reader to do something specific, like buying a product or signing up for a newsletter.

    • Imagine you’re giving directions to someone who’s lost.

    • You need to be very clear about what they should do next!

  3. Use persuasive language

    • Use words that make people feel excited or interested.

    • Think about how you would convince a friend to try a new game you love.

    • You would tell them all the great things about it in a way that makes them want to try it too.

    • Your sales copy should do the same thing.

The 10 Reasons People Buy (120824)

  1. Make money

  2. Save money

  3. Save time

  4. Avoid effort

  5. Escape mental or physical pain

  6. Get more comfort

  7. Attain better health

  8. Gain praise

  9. Feel more love

  10. Increase status

Think of each one as a pin.

Use as many as possible to “pin down” the sale.

How to Craft Effective Headlines (130824)

Product Awareness: If your audience knows about your product and desires it, start the headline with the product.

  • “Saints College Will 10x Your Threads Growth — FAST”

Desire Awareness: If they only know what they desire but not your product, start with the desire.

  • “How To 10X Your Threads Growth in 7 Days (EASILY)!”

Problem Awareness: If they are only aware of a problem, start with the problem and turn it into a need.

The Secret Code To Your Audience’s Brain (140824)

→ PQRR:

Problems

  • Posting into the void.

  • How many times should I post?

  • What should I post about?

Roadblocks:

  • I’m not a social media person.

  • I don’t have anything to write about.

  • I don’t have enough time.

Results:

  • A network of creators to grow with.

  • Engagement group to guarantee people see your posts.

Imagine someone in your niche — call him Fred — standing on one side of a river, wanting to get to the other side.

  • Your sales copy is the bridge that helps him make that mental leap.

Problems, Questions and Roadblocks are on one side of the river.

Address those, then show Fred what Results are waiting for him on the other side.

The Key to Financial Growth is… (150824)

→ Personal growth!

To make more money, you must become a person who makes more money; a different person to who you are now.

  • You can’t drive to a new city without leaving your driveway.

The key to wealth isn't luck — it's transformation.
