5.5 Lessons from MrBeast About Virality
The 4th lesson will blow your mind...
1 Meditation
It’s 11:41 am.
Friday morning.
At my desk in my partner’s dad’s office.
As I meditate about this Lesson’s Meditation, I can’t help but think about the insane growth of Saints College (SC) over the past few weeks and the challenges that have arisen as a result.
ICYMI: SC is my online community that helps Threads creators get their first 1,000 followers in 100 days or less.
As at the time of this writing, SC has 430 members (compared to 309 this time 2 weeks ago).
The main challenge I’ve been navigating over the past 2 weeks has been engagement.
Namely, feeling guilty for not being able to engage with everything inside the community.
I hate the idea that anyone inside SC joins because they’re feeling lonely in their online journey (like I did), wants to be heard, gets outside of their comfort zone by posting something inside the group, only to not receive a warm welcome from me or someone else…
But — as I’ve been meditating on this engagement challenge — I’ve realised a few things:
As SC continues to grow, it will literally be impossible for me to respond to everything inside the community while simultaneously promoting it on Threads and building it’s content library.
In other words, as SC grows, so does my role within it.
For the first 2 months of SC’s 4-month existence, I could easily wear all the hats because there weren’t many engaged members.
I could host the party and act like an attendee of it.
BUT — given the recent growth — this is changing.
It’s now a matter of becoming the best fucking party host. Ever.
Now, my role’s to put on an awesome party for all the attendees (members), and do everything I can to ensure it stays awesome.
This means my role’s evolving from engagement to facilitation.
From spending 2-3 hours each day replying to everything, to spending 2-3 hours each day improving the community experience.
They’re not mutually exclusive, but that shift from engagement to facilitation’s helped me look at the bigger picture and focus on SC’s overarching strategy and vision.
One HUGE factor that’s made this shift so much easier is giving up control, realising I can’t do everything myself, and bringing on my Belgian brother from another mother Björn as a community admin.

The key takeaway here is short-term pains (not being able to engage with everyone) lead to long-term gains (providing a better overall experience for everyone).
^ A working theory 🤪
Anyway, that’s this week’s Meditation.

5.5 Lessons From MrBeast About Virality
MrBeast has 53,000,000,000+ views on his content.
I had to know how he did it.
So I spent 47 hours studying his content and interviews.
Turns out EVERY video uses the same 5.5 tactics:
(Steal them to make your Threads posts go viral)
1️⃣ Start with a bang 💥
Create immediate curiosity.
Hook readers in the first line.
Use bold statements or shocking facts.
E.g.
"This 1 secret doubled my income in 30 days."
"I just saw the craziest thing."
2️⃣ Highlight the stakes
Introduce big risks or promises
Say what’s at stake from the start.
Keep readers invested in the outcome.
E.g.
"If you don’t apply this tactic, you’re leaving money on the table."
"If you guess correctly, I'll repost all your content for a week."
3️⃣ Use emotions
Elicit strong emotional reactions.
Make your audience feel something!
Use acts of generosity, surprising twists & personal stories.
E.g.
"When I first started, I struggled with the same problem..."
"I was having the worst day until a stranger did this..."
4️⃣ Use a high Rate of Revelation
RoR: how quickly you reveal new info to the reader.
Keep the Rate of Revelation high.
Use short, concise sentences.
E.g.
Slow RoR: "There are so many different things about habits that could make or break your performance in life and in business. Most people don't have a clue about habits, but you need to know about them to live a good life."
Fast RoR: "4 reasons why habits are difficult to build:"
5️⃣ Post frequently & consistently
Post 3 times/day [frequency]
Do that for 10 years [consistency]
Don't quit – you'll get 80% of your audience in the last 2 years
E.g.
[frequency] my feed
[consistency] my feed in 9 years lol
5️⃣.5️⃣ Build community
Collaborate with other creators every day.
Learn from people a few steps ahead of you.
Help those a few steps behind you.
E.g.
Saints College is a community of 430+ Threads creators.
Join for free to expand your community + learn more about creating viral content.
7 Learnings
Quantum Mechanics, General Relativity and String Theory For Dummies (200724)
Quantum mechanics is the theory of the small.
General relativity is the theory of the large.
String theory is our best answer to bridging the gap between the two: the theory of everything.
The “Yes, Damn!” Framework for Decision Making (210724)
It’s when you say “Yes” to something because you think you’ll have time later.
But when later comes, you think “Damn!” because you realise you don’t “have time” yet and wish you’d said “No” to begin with.
Solution: practice flexing the “No” muscle more.
The 31st Law of Power (220724)
Control The Options: Get Others To Play With The Cards You Deal
“The best deceptions are the ones that seem to give the other person a choice: your victims feel they are in control, but are actually your puppets.”
“Give people options that come out in your favor whichever one they choose.”

Are You Default Dead or Default Alive? (230724)
Default Alive: Businesses and lives in this state will succeed unless something goes wrong.
Default Dead: Businesses and lives in this state will fail unless something significant changes.
Key takeaway: Are you currently on a Default Alive or Default Dead trajectory in business and life?
(If you’re Default Dead, failure is inevitable. So you should course correct ASAP)

The 3 Goals of Great Copywriting (240724)
Visualisation: Can you visualise it?
Falsification: Can you falsify it?
Uniqueness: Am I the only one who can say this?
Great copy answers “Yes” to each question.
E.g. “1,000 songs in your pocket”
You can visualise an iPod in your pocket.
You can falsify the claim by showing the iPod doesn’t fit 1,000 songs.
Apple’s the only one who can say it.
If a competitor used the same phrase, everyone would know they’re ripping off Apple and the competitor would lose credibility.
Kaplan’s Law of Words (250724)
The more you try to explain something, the harder it is to understand.
Short explanation of a toy car: “This car goes vroom vroom when you push it.”
Long explanation of a toy car: ““The car moves because of the force applied by your hand and the friction between the wheels and the ground.”
TLDR of Kaplan’s Law of Words: keep it simple so everyone can understand.
The 44th Law of Power (260724)
Disarm and Infuriate With the Mirror Effect
“when you mirror your enemies, doing exactly as they do, they cannot figure out your strategy.”
“The Mirror Effect mocks and humiliates them, making them overreact.”
“By holding up a mirror to their psyches, you seduce them with the illusion that you share their values; by holding up a mirror to their actions, you teach them a lesson.”
