The Toolkit for Achieving Goals on Threads

Plus: The best Threads tip ever, “Threads could be folded into Instagram”, creating attention-grabbing profile pictures, engagement pods and more.

Welcome to Issue #9 of How To Win Thriends!

And Happy New Year! I’m so fkn keen to see what we all get up to in 2024.

I’ve seriously got a good feeling about it.

I consider my ability to arouse enthusiasm among my people the greatest asset I possess, and the way to develop the best that is in a person is by appreciation and encouragement.

Not much news to share this week, which is unsurprising given the time of year.

I suspect we’ll start to see some juicy stuff being rolled out over the next few weeks as the holiday season comes to a close.

Stay tuned ⏳

In the meantime, here are some more minor updates.

Other updates

What is it?

ICYMI: I spent 10 hours simplifying Huberman’s goals toolkit.

  • First, I listened to the relevant podcast episode.

  • Then I created a set of notes based on my highlights.

  • Then I simplified the notes 3 more times to create a one-stop-shop for everything goals-related.

  • This Notion doc — How to Set & Achieve Goals in 2024 — summarises all the latest science-backed strategies and lays them out in actionable steps.

  • In short, the doc contains everything you need to know about setting and achieving goals.

  • Feel free to duplicate the page and use it whenever you want to pursue a new goal!

What this can do for you

  • The tagline of HTWT is:

    • Actionable tips and tricks on how to grow your account, make more Thriends and achieve your goals.

  • That last part is exactly what the Goals Toolkit will help you with.

  • As you’ll see on the Notion doc, my goal relates to my tutoring biz.

    • It’s my main priority because it’s how I (plan to) make a living!

  • However, if your main priority is Threads atm, I highly recommend using the Goals Toolkit.

    • It will:

      • arm you with the latest science-backed knowledge

      • clarify your priorities on Threads

      • help you achieve your Threads goals

      • let you win more thriends!

  • Simply fill out the callout boxes beneath each step, read the tips about achieving goals and you’re good to go!

Test: I was blocked(!?)

Well, I didn’t see this coming, but I think I was blocked by my idol @datadrivenmd 😔

  • Each week I go to Jorge’s profile to see if he’s done any recent Threads tests I can write about.

  • I went to do the same this week, except his profile didn’t appear in search.

    • Then I visited his profile’s URL in a private browser to make sure it still exists.

    • And it does…

  • Not sure if this is just a glitch, or if I was actually blocked, but either way, I’m sorry to say I don’t have any tests to share this week.

  • This subsection of the newsletter is pretty tricky to write each week as it’s difficult to find tests on Threads (with or without being blocked)!

  • In light of that, I think I’ll only complete this section on an ad hoc basis from now on.

    • I’d happily conduct my own weekly tests if I had the time or money to do so, but unfortunately, that’s not the case (for now 😜).

  • Please DM or email me if you have any suggestions, concerns or questions regarding the change to this part of HTWT!

Key Takeaways

Each post:

  • Is concise

    1. “Aaron Rodgers is not smart.”

    2. “Happy New Year in multiple languages!”

    3. “You don’t own it.”

    • 👉🏽 Concise, catchy content is more likely to be shared (and go viral) because it’s easy to understand and quick to engage with.

  • Refers to a trending topic or event

    1. The Kimmel-Rodgers dispute heating up in the wake of The Epstein List

    2. The New Year

    3. Consent and ownership of one’s body

    • 👉🏽 Trending topics or events resonate with a broad audience. People feel like these topics or events are relatable and important to share with others.

  • Provokes an emotional response

    1. Relief that Kimmel’s name isn’t on the list, strong agreement (or disagreement) regarding the vaccine’s efficacy and Aaron Rodgers’s intelligence.

    2. Gratitude for the author’s effort of writing Happy New Year in multiple languages.

    3. Admiration and joy for the author’s firm stance on the importance of respecting bodily autonomy.

    • 👉🏽 Emotions prompt engagement. Period. Whether that’s through liking, replying, reposting or quoting, emotions make you feel (and often do) something.
