How to Win 100 New Thriends in 7 Days!
Should creators be able to charge for exclusive content?
Welcome to Issue 4 of How To Win Thriends!
I’ve decided to cull the ‘BOTTOM 3 THREADS OF THE WEEK’ in this issue. If you miss it, DM me on Instagram 🙏
By fighting you never get enough, but by yielding you get more than you expected.
TLDR:
Some users already had access, but now everyone does.
In all languages, too!
Simply go to the search bar and type in whatever you want to look for.
Although this was announced about 10 hours ago at the time of writing, a few users are already asking for the search results to be listed chronologically — from most recent to oldest.
Watch this space!
Why you should care:
The expansion of keyword search makes it easier for us to find the topics we’re interested in and join more conversations we care about (duh).
Ultimately this will make it easier to win thriends 🥳
And I mean ‘thriends’ in the purest sense of the word — not just followers. Because your thriends are those who share one or more of your interests.
That’s why you should care about this update!
TLDR:
According to the Wall Street Journal (WSJ), Meta’s gonna launch Threads in the EU in December (i.e. this month)!
The WSJ’s report claims that EU users will have the choice to use Threads ‘purely for consumption’ and ‘without a profile that allows them to make their own posts.’
Threads wasn’t launched in the EU back in July due to regulatory concerns.
Namely, those relating to the Digital Services Act and Digital Markets Act.
Also, EU regulators aren’t particularly fond of Meta’s habit of taking EU users’ data overseas and processing it there.
Why you should care:
One tech analyst who spoke to the WSJ said that launching in the EU could lead to an extra 40 million users on Threads in 2024.
YAY FOR WINNING MORE THRIENDS!

Please stop arguing with trolls. (don’t screenshot their stuff either!)
Your ‘Dear Algorithm’ Post on Threads Doesn't Work (NB: article from 2 weeks ago)
Tool: LogicBalls
What is it?
Firstly, I just gotta say that I love the name of this tool 😂
Okay, down to business. LogicBalls is an ‘AI tool for Threads generation.’
Think: a custom GPT for Threads that’s free.
NB: at the time of writing, custom GPTs are only available on OpenAI’s paid Plus plan (which I don’t have).
What this can do for you
Now, let me be crystal clear. I do not suggest you solely rely on an AI tool like LogicBalls to generate your posts.
I wholeheartedly believe in authentic expression on Threads.
‘Okay Lennox, so why are including an AI tool in this issue?’
Two words 👉 writer’s block.
Sometimes you have a topic you’d like to discuss but have no idea how to express it.
LogicBalls is useful because you can simply type in the topic, select a tone and generate a draft post.
Keyword: ‘draft’.
LogicBalls can help you create a first draft, which you should then refine into your own words.
Some other notes about LogicBalls:
As you can see in the screenshot, the preview includes hashtags which, at the time of writing, aren’t a thing on Threads.
‘Tags’ are currently being tested in kangaroo land, but these function slightly differently from hashtags.
So if you decide to use this tool, you might like to delete the hashtags it generates.
Beneath the Post Type subheading in the screenshot, you can toggle between Post and Thread.
If you select Thread, LogicBalls (I can’t type that name without laughing…) will generate 7 posts that you can use as inspiration for a thread.
Test: the best way to post threads
A couple of weeks ago one of my favourite threxperts,* Jorge Caballero (@datadrivenmd) conducted an experiment to answer the following question:
Does the algorithm help or hurt creators who post threads in a single action or one at a time?
Posting a thread in a single action: you post your entire thread (e.g. [1/3], [2/3], [3/3]) at once.
Posting a thread one at a time: e.g. you post [1/3], then post [2/3] and [3/3] as replies to [1/3].
Here’s the TL;DR from Jorge himself: ‘if you’re going to post a thread on Threads, do it in a single action otherwise you’re wasting your time and energy.’
*I’d love to get a tip from Jorge for HTWT! If you know him, please send him my way!
